Poo Coloured Eyeshadow For Maximum Pop- It's A Thing!

Hmmmmm-

Before you think I’ve gone bonkers hear me out, that is, if you want to get compliments like-

Your eyes are so beautiful

Not

Your eyeshadow is so beautiful.

For what is eye makeup if not to accentuate our peepers? It’s not to render us into Picasso gorgeous people! As much as our inner bowerbird is attracted to shiny flashy things ( read glitter shadows and metallic creams, hey I’ve been there and let’s be honest I STILL go there sometimes!!!). Really good day to night makeup is a bit like really good clothes, BORING on the hanger( in the compact), sensational on the body (on the eyelid) and BOTH make you shine so that the attention is on YOU and not your shimmery extras.

As for the poo part, different shades of waste for each different eye colour hahahaha.

Now don’t laugh but-

For Blue Eyes-

Baby poo colour ie a cool yellow/mustard/khaki. Good examples of this are the classic Bobbi Brown shades “Camel” and “Banana”, these two hues are opposite to blue on the colour wheel hence they make blue eyes blue-er, and how. I am wearing these in the image above. Note how you only see the blue eyes, not the eye shadow, this idea works.

Also try the Anastasia Beverly Hills palette “Modern Renaissance”- the two best shades for blue eyes are “ Raw Sienna” and “ Golden Ochre”.

TV makeup artists use these shades a lot as they not only accentuate blue eye colour but they also shade and contour beautifully without becoming too smoky. Baby poo colour is surprisingly flattering and if used lightly it shapes the socket well without looking obvious. For a truly dark smoky eye ie using black, baby poo colour is also a fantastic transition colour.

Pair this shade with-

Deep warm brown /mahogony eyeliner applied as close to the lash line as possible, remembering this is about defining and beautifying the eye and eye colour, NOT about creating the “feline flick”- leave that to Charlotte Tilbury. Accentuate the waterline if that’s your thing ( makes a rounded or ageing eye more exotically almond BTW)- or else employ a bone pencil inside the eye to open her up. Matte bone highlighter on the brow bone and also a touch in the middle of the lid and lots of lengthening mascara-

and your blue eyes will entrance!

Poo Coloured Shadow For Green Eyes-

Here we need a deeper shade of brown with a hint of red ( been eating beetroot have we?), a mahogany hue is best, again as it contrasts so well with any shade of green eye. As before, the ABH “Modern Renaissance” palette is perfect for blending the perfect hue of poo! Mix “Red Ochre” with “Cyprus Umber” and your eyes will thank you for it.

If your green eyes have a golden fleck ie a touch of hazel use a soft yellow gold under the brow and on the centre of the lid then the reddish brown matte velvet shadow smoked around the eye and into the crease. Then use a matching liner, my absolute fave is from Estee Lauder, ”Burgundy Suede”- it truly is a marvel and also goes with brown and blue eyes as mahogany is a neutral colour and suits everybody. Try also a deep plum mascara, makes green AND blue eyes mesmerising , much softer and youthful effect than black and nobody will pick that you’re not wearing black.

Poo Coloured Shadow For Brown Eyes???

As your eye colour is already dark, here we need to go a little lighter with a mid but cooler toned poo hue. Using again the ABH Modern Renaissance palette, try lining the eye with either “Warm Taupe” ( which isn’t warm at all and truly a good poo hue!), or “Buon Fresco” which has a hint of lilac and does brown eyes justice. Although I have recommended all matte or velvet textures until now, for deep dark eyes a light base on the lid with the faintest hint of shimmer will enliven an eye colour that can sometimes appear too flat ie one dimensional.

If high end cosmetics aren’t your thing or you’re saving for a house etc, studying and not eating smashed avocado on charcoal toast at a hipster cafe- there is a knock off palette from “Wet n Wild” called “Rose In The Air” which also does the trick. The shadows are smooth and the colours almost identical, for around $10 AUS.

Now

To create a halo around the eye, think Bambi NOT Vegas show girl- build the shading up slowly, use the highest concentration of pigment and a small brush closest to the lash line, and the least amount of product and a plush fluffy brush to create your soft smudge around the eye. The effect will be very sensual and feminine. Stand back to look at your fine self in the mirror at arms length so you get a good sense of the effect. Don’t be afraid to really smoke the colour quite a long way under the eye as well as in the crease, this will make your eyes look ENORMOUS yet effortless due to the subtle shades used,

very natural

and very you!
